We began recording our sermons in July of 1983. Since that time, we have had six located preachers. We have also had a very large number of visiting preachers from all over the country. We add new sermons every week. Those sermons are available here on our website. But we have also uploaded many of those sermons to a separate server that plays them in random order as an internet streaming radio station. That station plays our sermons all day, every day.
A few years ago, one of our members hired a company to provide a general-purpose, customizable radio player mobile app that works on Apple and Android mobile devices.
In your mobile Play Store, search for Gospel Truth Lessons.
This custom app shows the name of the preacher and the title of the sermon as the sermon plays.
It does have one problem. It searches the internet to find Album Art that it thinks matches the name of the "artist" and "song title."
So, occasionally, we get some strange pictures with the sermon.
And there have been times when the name of the preacher and the title of the sermon do not change.
To avoid the problem of the strange album art, we developed a custom web page to play our internet streaming radio station. In the URL line of your browser, type radio.knollwoodchurch.org and press the Enter key. Or click this link: radio.knollwoodchurch.org. This will take you to a separate page that has the audio controls in the middle of the page. The name of the preacher and the title of the sermon scroll across the bottom of the audio control box. Click the Play button to start listening to the radio station. Sometimes it may take a moment before it starts. Once you click the Play button, it changes to a Pause button. When you click the Pause button, you stop listening to the radio station. Since this is a radio station, when you click the Play button again, you will be at a different point in the sermon. Or it could be a totally different sermon. This new player page also has links back to our webpage and to our social media platforms. This version also had times when the name of the preacher and the title of the sermon did not change.
The web service that hosts our radio station provides a public page with player controls.
I didn't do much with it at first because it doesn't give me enough control over the appearance of the background.
But it does a much better job of updating the name of the preacher and the title of the sermon.
It also shows the album art. It has a progress bar to show where you are at within the sermon.
It has a volume slider to adjust the volume.
And it has a Song History button to show the last five sermons that have just played.
In the URL line of your browser, type https://a1.asurahosting.com/public/knollwood__gospel_truth_lessons and press the Enter key.
Or click this link: Asura Public Page for Knollwood.
I accidentally entered two spaces when I created the account, so there are two underline characters between knollwood and gospel.
You can also install either of these web pages on your mobile device.
For an Android device, using the Chrome web browser. type radio.knollwoodchurch.org into the URL block. Once the web page is loaded, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner. Scroll down in the popup menu and tap on "Add to Home page". In the box that pops up, the Shortcut Name was too long, so I changed it to RadioKW. Tap on the Add button. Press down on the icon and drag it to an empty spot on your home screen. Any time that you want to listen to the radio station, you can just tap on that icon.
This same process works for Firefox for Android. There is a similar process for Opera for Android. The dropdown menu has a selection for "Add to ..." Tap there and then tap "Home screen". I have not tried other browsers.
For an Apple phone/tablet, open your web browser and enter the URL above into the address bar and tap the Enter key. You can save this page as an icon on your home page by tapping the middle icon in the bottom menu bar [it looks like a box with an arrow pointing up]. Then tap on "Add to Home Screen".
On any device, you should click the Pause button before you close out the page so that the radio station stops playing.
