“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46).

Do you claim Jesus as your “Lord” but fail to DO the things which He has said in the New Testament? You see, if we call Him “Lord,” then we are implying that Christ is our Master and has authority over our lives. And Jesus certainly should be the Master of our lives, and we should humbly and readily submit ourselves to His authority, but is He and do we?

Do we call Him “Lord, Lord,” but do not do the things which He says, such as: “repent” (Mt. 4:17), “love your enemies” (Mt. 5:44), “forgive men their trespasses” (Mt. 6:14), “do not worry” (Mt. 6:25, 31, 34), confess Him before men (Mt. 10:32), deny myself, take up my cross, and follow Him (Mt. 16:24), divorce only if my spouse committed fornication (Mt. 19:9), and “make disciples of all nations” (Mt. 28:19)?

It’s not hard calling Jesus my Lord, or wanting Him to be my Lord. However, Jesus Christ is only truly our Lord if we DO the things which He says.

So, is He really your Lord?
