God has brought us through this year. There have been great blessings and joys, as well as great challenges and sorrows. God has seen us through them all.
While there is no guarantee of tomorrow (James 4:14; 1 Thess. 5:2), we have the prospect of another year ahead of us. How are we going to make use of this year?
Will we accept the challenge to read the Bible through in a year? Or perhaps read and study a significant portion of the Bible?
Will we make real efforts to improve our prayer life this year? We can set aside time devoted to spending with God in prayer. We can take a copy of the "prayer list" or make one of our own and bring these people before God every day.
Will we get more involved in the work here at Knollwood this year? There are many things to do, and there is a place for you in the work (Eph. 4:16). Talk to the elders about how you can get more involved. You will be glad you did.
Will we be an encouragement to the brethren this year? Barnabas stood out as a man who helped and encouraged others (Acts 4:36; 11:23-24). We can follow his great example and lift up those around us as they serve the Lord.
Will we lead the lost to Christ this year? Make 2019 the year you invite more people to attend services with you than ever before. Opportunities abound! In addition to our weekly worship services and Bible classes, we have two Gospel Meetings scheduled, and we are scheduling another Youth Lectureship and Vacation Bible School.
It is great that we begin the year with good intentions, but we must be doers of the word and follow through on these intentions with actions.
