Let's consider some of the ways in which the Scriptures describe God's people.
Saved People. "Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, and you shall tread down their high places." {Deuteronomy 33:29}
What does it mean to be saved? God physically delivered Israel from the Egyptians.
- "And Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.'"{Exodus 14:13}
All people are saved spiritually by the blood Christ shed on the cross.
- "But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. " {Galatians 6:14}
Separated People. "But I have said to you, 'You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples." {Leviticus 20:24}
- "Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you." {2 Corinthians 6:17}
Happy People. "Happy are the people who are in such a state; happy are the people whose God is the LORD!" {Psalm 144:15} God's people should be happy because God is our Father, and Christ is our brother. We have family members all over the world. Who has more reason to be happy?
Holy People. "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth." {Deuteronomy 7:6}
- "But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, 'Be holy, for I am holy.'" {1 Peter 1:15,16} To be holy is to be sanctified-set apart for the Master's use.
Peculiar People. "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;" {1 Peter 2:9} This does not mean that we are odd; we are peculiar because our lives have a different focus and purpose.
- "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." {Romans 12:2}
- "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." {1 John 2:15}
- "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." {Matthew 6:33}
- "Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'" {Matthew 22:37}
I believe that, without a doubt, God's people are the best people!
