"If they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame."{Hebrews 6:6} Can you ever picture in your mind that when Jesus hung on the cross, you drove the nails through His feet and hands? Never!! We look back to the events of those days and cannot believe men could have so cold-hearted and uncaring. To put Jesus, One free of the guilt of sin and no evil having done, on that cruel tree of Calvary. But wait...
What about when we, after becoming children of God, go out and sin willfully, knowing that God has commanded us not to. What have we done? "For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins."{Hebrews 10:26} He is not going to the cross again, but by our actions and sin we have placed Him there all over again! How could we? The cruel and intense suffering on the cross that cold, dark day in history, was that not enough? Not if we go out and commit sin knowing that sin was the cause of His death on that cross. Could we be so heartless as to put Him through it all over again?
Sadly, that is just want we do. Next time you decide on a course of action in your life, knowing that God, in His word has forbidden such conduct, understand when you make the decision to sin, you just placed Him on the cross again! May we understand the terribleness and pain of sin. Sin brings suffering, pain, misery, unhappiness, and death to plague our lives here. Would you crucify your Savior again? If not, abstain from and avoid sin. One time on the cross is enough!
