God created man with one ability that none of God's other creations have, the ability to choose. Yes, God made us free moral agents giving us the freedom of choice. What do we do with these choices? Let us examine what some did with them.
Adam & Eve. God told them they could eat of all the trees of the garden--save one, Gen.2:16,17. When given the choice--they ate of that one. Results? Separation from God--just like He had told them, Gen.3:15-24.
Pharaoh. Moses came to him with God's instructions. Read Exo.5:1,2. When he made his choice it ended up costing him the land of Egypt and his life. Could it have ended differently? Yes, and the first born of Egypt could have been spared.
Israelites while Moses is Absent. Moses is on Mount Sinai receiving the law from God. What do God's people do? Make a golden calf and worship it. Read Exodus 32. The results were grave, many lost their lives. Yet, they still made the choice.
Joshua & Caleb. 12 spies went into the land before Israel to survey it. All 12 saw the same things. Yet, two different reports came back. Ten were fearful and two were ready to enter. Read Numbers 13, 14. All but the faithful two, Joshua and Caleb, entered in. The others died over the next 40 years in the wilderness. All could have entered but they made a different choice.
What about us? What choices are you making?
Servant of sin or righteousness? "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?" {Romans 6:16}
Resist temptation or give in? "...But God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." {1 Cor.10:13}
Follow the world or God? "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."{Rom.12:1}
One other choice one must make--eternal life or eternal damnation? To be perfectly honest, depending on your other choices will determine what choice God makes at judgment. Yes, freedom to choose is a wonderful blessing but can be quite dangerous at the same time! What are you choosing today--life or death?
ARE YOU READY TO LIVE FOR AN ETERNITY WITH YOUR CHOICES?
