Time Enough Yet?
By Brian Blackaby

"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow, for what is your life? It is even as a vapour that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away." {James 4:14} We do not know how much time we have on this earth. Jesus will come for a second time, for a much different reason than he came the first time.

"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left." {Matthew 25:31-33}

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." {Hebrews 4:12,13}

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad." {2 Corinthians 5:10}

"And to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power." {2 Thessalonians 1:7-9}

He could return ANY time. He could return today, tomorrow, or even 100 years from now. All we know is that he has given us certain directions which we need to follow. We will all be judged. "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised him from the dead." (Acts 17:30,31)

We all need to do what is commanded of us and not to waste time doing it. Many people say they will obey the gospel some other time. Do they realize that there might not be that much time left? Felix thought so. "Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you." {Acts 24:25} So did King Agrippa. "King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe...You almost persuade me to become a Christian." {Acts 26:27,28} As far as we know, King Agrippa was never baptized. The only way we can be sure of an eternal home in heaven is by acting now. What about you dear reader? Have you obeyed the gospel of Christ? If not, do you still believe you have "time enough yet?" Maybe you will; then again, maybe you won't!
