Who is Jesus of Nazareth?

  1. He is the Christ predicted by the Old Testament prophets. “He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (which is translated, the Christ)” (John 1:41).
  2. He is the Son of God. “Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God’” (Matthew 16:16).
  3. He is the Son of Man (referring to Jesus taking on the weaknesses and pains experienced by mankind). “And Jesus said to him, ‘Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head’” (Matthew 8:20).
  4. Jesus is the Savior for all men. “Then they said to the woman, ‘Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world’” (John 4:42).
  5. Jesus is the perfect sacrifice for sin. “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’” (John 1:29).
  6. Jesus is the Lord of lords and King of kings. “These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:14).
  7. Jesus is the great High Priest. “Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people” (Hebrews 2:17).
  8. Jesus is the final revelation of God. “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds” (Hebrews 1:1-2).
