Victory With The Lord
by Steven F. Deaton

From the beginning, Satan has waged a war against the souls of men (Gen. 3:1-6). Peter described him as a "roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Pet. 5:8). The battle is fierce and the adversary powerful, but we have an Advocate, Jesus Christ. He leads the ranks of the righteous against the devil and the demons of darkness. He is the "Captain" of our salvation (Heb. 2:10). The enemies of God "will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful" (Rev. 17:14). Victory belongs to the Lord and His legions!

Each man and woman must decide if he or she will be victorious with the Lord or defeated with the devil. This choice is made day by day, beginning with the acceptation or rejection of Jesus as the Christ (John 3:16; 8:24). Likewise, one will either choose to submit to the commands of repentance and baptism or rebel (Acts 2:38). However, this is not all. Each person who has become a Christian will make decisions on a daily basis. The Christian will choose to give in to temptation or not (James 1:13-15; 1 Cor. 10:13). The Christian will determine to produce the fruit of the Spirit or engage in the works of the flesh (Gal. 5:19-23). Too, each Christian will decide either to add virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love to his faith, or not (2 Pet. 1:5-7). In each of these, one choice puts a person on the Lord's side, while the other puts him on the devil's. One decision leads to victory and the other to defeat.

God has done His part in providing a plan by which we may overcome with the Lamb, the gospel plan of salvation; it is now up to us to make the decision either to accept or reject it. What choices have you made in the past? What choices are you making right now? What choices are you determined to make in the future?

We need not stand in doubt, VICTORY IS WITH THE LORD!
