The Christian Walk
by Keith Greer

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." {Romans 12:2}

What path does a person take to ensure that he does not conform to the world? We need to answer this vital question correctly.

Walk in the Light. "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." {1 John 1:7}

God's word supplies the light in which we ought to walk. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." {Psalm 119:105} The word exposes the correct path and guides us as we follow it.

Walk in Love. "And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." {Ephesians 5:2} _

Christ provided the example. We are to love one another in the same way that He has loved us. How we treat others shows whether or not we love them.

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." {John 13:34,35}

Walk in the Spirit. "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." {Galatians 5:16} If we follow the inspired word, we "walk in the Spirit." The Holy Spirit revealed God's word. Christians are to mold their lives around the Bible's teachings.

Walk in the Truth. "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." {3 John 4} What is this truth about which John spoke?

"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." {John 17:7} In His word, God tells us how to conduct ourselves in this world. Christians are to be living Bibles for others to read. What do people read when they observe your life?

Walk in Good Works. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." {Ephesians 2:10} A work is good because God calls it good! He designed what He wants us to do as we live on this earth.

Walk in Wisdom. "Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time." {Colossians 4:5) Whose wisdom?

"For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe." {1 Corinthians 1:21}

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." {Isaiah 55:8,9} Remember, the Creator knows more than the creatures He created.

Walk Circumspectly. "See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise," {Ephesians 5:15} We need to remember that there are consequences for the decisions we make. Christians need to be mindful of the paths in which we choose to walk and consider where they are leading us? We live in the world, but we do not follow its paths.
