God's People Are:
by Keith Greer

Let's consider some of the ways in which the Scriptures describe God's people.

Saved People. "Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, and you shall tread down their high places." {Deuteronomy 33:29}

What does it mean to be saved? God physically delivered Israel from the Egyptians.

All people are saved spiritually by the blood Christ shed on the cross.

Separated People. "But I have said to you, 'You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples." {Leviticus 20:24}

Happy People. "Happy are the people who are in such a state; happy are the people whose God is the LORD!" {Psalm 144:15} God's people should be happy because God is our Father, and Christ is our brother. We have family members all over the world. Who has more reason to be happy?

Holy People. "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth." {Deuteronomy 7:6}

Peculiar People. "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;" {1 Peter 2:9} This does not mean that we are odd; we are peculiar because our lives have a different focus and purpose.

I believe that, without a doubt, God's people are the best people!
