Same Facts; Different Starting Points
By Keith Greer

A group of Christians from our area recently made a Saturday trip to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY, just outside of Cincinnati. If you have not had the opportunity to visit this museum, I highly recommend it. Of course, I did not agree with all the things presented at the museum, especially concerning the subject of salvation. But the majority of the museum is dedicated to the Creation account in the book of Genesis. Let me share some things that impressed me.

Evidence. Many times during discussions with those who believe in evolution, they try to convince us we have no evidence. One of the things we saw in several different places at the Creation Museum was the phrase: "Same evidence, different starting points." What does this mean? Our evidence is the same as the evolutionist's-the earth itself. But we begin with God, and they begin with the premise that the earth is billions of years old. Therefore, based on our starting points, we reach different conclusions. Everything begins with God! "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." {Genesis 1:1,2} This is where we have the advantage-we have a point of origin. The evolutionist has an as-yet-unproven theory.

The Flood. Part of the museum is, of course, dedicated to the Biblical account of the flood that occurred in Noah's day. One remarkable graphic shows the water covering the earth from one side, the waters of the deep being broken open, and on the other side, the windows of heaven being opened when God sent the rain. "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights." {Genesis 7:11,12} Remember how God waited 120 years before sending the flood, giving the people an opportunity to repent. But they did not believe Noah when he told them God was going to destroy the earth with a flood. Sadly, they did not believe then, and many don't believe today. Yet, more and more scientists are arriving at the conclusion that at one time, the earth must have been covered with WATER!

We can't help seeing the order in Creation-the stars, the earth, life itself. It cries out the answer-an intelligent designer. "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse." {Romans 1:20}

Yes, friends, there is overwhelming evidence for intelligent design-but not for natural cause. It depends on where you begin!
