Changing Evil to Good!
By Keith Greer

" Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light. And light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter." {Isaiah 5:20} Sadly, today our country appears to be following the same course as did many other past world empires, which fell. One watermark of many long-ago fallen nations was a propensity for changing, from calling and considering an evil thing evil, into considering and calling the same thing good. For example:

Homosexuality -- an Alternate Lifestyle. From the beginning, God spoke clearly concerning His thoughts on this subject. "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination." {Leviticus 18:22} Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because they practiced homosexuality (Genesis 19:1-5). God's word in the New Testament remained consistent. "For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due." {Romans 1:26,27} God called homosexuality sin! In the first letter to the Corinthian church, Paul wrote that those who practiced such things could not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

Today, the debate goes on. Homosexuality is both a religious and a political issue. States are debating and voting on whether to allow same-sex marriages. Homosexuals and lesbians are seeking legislation that allows them to adopt children -- and in some states, they can! The religious world is also in turmoil. Lesbian women and gay men are taking their places in the pulpits of many mainstream religions. Roman Catholics, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Baptists, Presbyterians, Christian Churches, and many others now have homosexual clergy. Still other religions have come out, openly resolving to take "softer, not-so-rigid stands" against alternate lifestyles. Politicians demand the passage of hate-crime bills that promote hatred for those who discriminate against the homosexual lifestyle. Our hatred is not, and never has been, toward the individuals who practice these ungodly lifestyles. God and Christians oppose the sin of homosexuality -- not the people! Yes, the one who leaves this sin can be forgiven. Men continue their quest to find the "gene" that causes homosexuality. God did not create gays and lesbians. God created Adam and Eve -- not Adam and Steve! Men may change its name, and the world may change its view -- God has not!
