Under His Wings!
By Keith Greer

"The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge." {Ruth 2:12}

The virtuous woman Ruth left her homeland (Moab) and came unto the people of God making this wonderful statement, "...For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. " {Ruth 1:16} By the influence of her mother-in-law Naomi she had been won over to God's people. Ruth came to trust God. Let us notice others who trusted in God.

Job trusted God. "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him." {Job 13:15} Job did not understand all the evil that was coming his way but he would not blame God. Trusting in God does not mean that no evil can come upon us. "Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution." {2 Timothy 3:12} If we will "wait on God" all things will work out, Romans 8:28.

David trusted God. "...The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence." {2 Samuel 22:2,3}

David understood why he had gained the victory over his enemies -- God delivered him! Many of the Psalms written by David speak of his utmost trust in God. See Psalm 4:5; 5:11; 16:1;25:1,2; 37:40.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted in God. "If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." {Daniel 3:17,18}

Nebuchadnezzar had set up a golden image. All who came before the image were to bow down and pay homage. These three devout Jews in Babylonian captivity, knowing the consequences for refusing to do so, trusted in God. Even if God did not deliver them from the fire of the furnace -- they would not bow down! Ultimate trust shown in God -- what an example!

What about you dear reader -- do you have this type of trust in God? Is your trust unequivocal and complete in God? Do you sometimes have trust which wavers? God's children need to trust in Him with all situations of our lives!
