Population of Hell
By Keith Greer

Too many people have little or no concern about Hell. While the majority of people believe in heaven they also deny the existence of Hell. Who will make up the population in this place of eternal torment?

Devil and his angels. "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels."Matthew 25:41} This truth is also taught in Revelation 20:10. This is a prepared place for an unprepared people!

Lovers of the flesh."Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness." {Galatians 5:19}People who cannot control their fleshly appetites will be there.

Religious people. "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" {Matthew 7:21-23}

Does seem strange to you? How can religious folks be lost? One must not only practice religion it must be right in the sight of God! One can be sincerely wrong. Remember Saul of Tarsus? Acts 26:9-11

Good moral people. People continue to believe that if the good outweighs the bad -- then God will allow one to enter heaven. While good morals are an important quality for anyone seeking to please God -- is it enough? What about Cornelius? He was a devout man, feared God, prayed always and gave alms to the poor, Acts 10:1-4. Did those things saved him? If so, why send for Peter? Acts 10:22-48

Lukewarm church members. "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth." {Revelation 3:15,16} Too many in the Lord's church act like they believe in "eternal security."

Christians cannot be indifferent about their service to God. One who tries to play at both ends will find themselves lost on judgment! We must be faithful, progressing in knowledge, growing in grace, and be teachers of God's word to others. How can Christians who won't attend, pray, give, study and get involved believe they will gain heaven. Sadly, they won't!
